May 31, 2019
veronica here! ally from drip dye part 1 and drip dye part 2 is in back in my chair. her color has faded, but it still looks really cool! the pastel colors on top have faded, where the bright colors have become pastel. today we’re going to RETOUCH her blonde hair and keep the pastel pinks and purples on the bottom.

how to RETOUCH blonde hair after direct dye
as i mentioned above, you can see how well the colors have faded. this is why it’s so important to pick colors that will FADE ON TONE.
since ally wants to grow the rest of this color out, i’m going to be retouching the blonde only. this means i’ll be taking her roots to the same lightness as the top of the hair.
on the first few sections, i’m using a lower level lightner and increasing the volume as i work up the head. this ensures that everything i’m lightening, lightens evenly.
with the lightener all applied, i can see that it’s already starting to lift out nicely.
now that the lightener is all WASHED OUT and i can see the under pigment is perfect. this pale yellow is perfect to tone.
to tone ally’s hair, i’ve mixed 1:1 pearl and ash. it’s TONING beautifully.
with the color done now, the look is complete! the blonde roots look seamless and the colors are beautiful. this is a great way to have a unique color without going over the top. if you have any questions or comments, ask us @nvennhairbeauty on Youtube or Instagram.
